about
In this song Zan picked up a setting from one of Mike's songs, and the Before The Dawn universe started growing from that moment on.
So in a way, this one was the song that kicked it all off!
lyrics
Red Sun Rising
Still as death, the red sun seems to hang in the freezing sky
Like a knothole into hell that waits for me.
Running for my life, in the shadow of a ruined wall I lie,
Alone--and maybe dying--but still free.
Must get up--must stir myself--I can't surrender now,
Got to find myself a place to hide.
Fight to keep on moving though I can't remember how,
Can't give up--too many friends have died.
And the tower marks the border of the world I've known before,
Where I learned the ways of music and of peace.
But the days of joy and plenty will be mine now nevermore,
And the red sun rising shows me
Like a wind from hell that blows me
That in blood alone will my spirit find release.
Red as blood, the sunlight glitters on the windows of the tower,
And taunts me with a hope I can't ignore.
Black as night, the hate within me lends a little of its power
And I somehow crawl towards the broken door.
In the gentle darkness there is safety, there is sleep,
And water when I wake to ease the pain.
The watcher must have died here, in the ruins of his keep,
But now the tower is guarded once again.
And the tower marks the border of the world I must explore,
As I heal myself and learn the skills I need.
Day by day I will grow stronger, than I ever was before,
And the red sun rising fires me,
And the wind from hell inspires me,
I shall never rest until the killers bleed,
And the red sun rising sanctifies the deed.

Zanda Myrande/Zander Nyrond/Jonathan Waite/Andrew Lyng had many names. Zanda was the newest (only found in 2016) and
probably the most important one.
Zan was an amazing writer, songwriter, and person, and her brain was basically an ant hill where every ant carried a book around.
She died very suddenly in July 2019, aged 63.
This page tries to collect what friends did and do with her songs....more
